In 2018, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved SIGA鈥檚 first product, oral TPOXX庐 (tecovirimat), for the treatment of smallpox, a deadly bioterrorism threat that cannot be addressed through vaccines alone. SIGA has worked closely with the U.S. Government during the development of TPOXX庐 and has been awarded more than $1.1 billion in procurement and development contracts by the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority of the U.S. Government (BARDA). Most recently, SIGA was awarded in a BARDA contract in excess of $600 million for the maintenance of 1.7 million courses of smallpox antiviral in the strategic national stockpile.
